My first job, like many folks, was in the fast-food industry. I had not been there very long when the manager tasked the assistant manager (who was a whopping 18 years old to my 16) and me to take inventory after the restaurant closed two or three nights a week. It seemed the restaurant was coming up short on some items. To be asked to help behind the scenes felt so cool at the time, I didn’t care that it was just counting cups and frozen patties. As it turned out, it was actually the manager who was caught stealing and promptly dismissed. I have often wondered if he picked us for the task because he thought we were too immature to take the task seriously and thought he would continue to get away with ruse. What I learned was how important it is to have the right people supporting those everyone “sees out front.” Since joining TrustCore in 1998 I have had the opportunity to work behind the scenes in many areas, including accounting, operations, planning, client services and compliance. As Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Operations, I have the opportunity to impact how planners and staff connect and communicate with clients. Just like when I was 16, I still take following the rules very seriously and I take a lot of pride in developing and assisting in the systems and processes that make the client experience at TrustCore special.
