Katie S. Kloster is the Global Chief Compliance Officer at Värde Partners. Her primary responsibilities are to execute on the firm’s compliance and audit programs and to manage compliance and regulatory risk. Värde Partners is a global investment manager that focuses on credit and event driven strategies in a wide range of public and private assets, with approximately $14 billion assets under management.

Prior to Värde, Ms. Kloster was with Thrivent Financial for over twenty years in a variety of compliance, accounting and management positions within the organization, including Controller and CCO. Her most recent role was Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for Thrivent Financial’s investment companies and investment advisers upon the implementation of the SEC compliance rules. In that designated role by the mutual fund board and several internal boards, she oversaw the investment adviser, mutual funds and separate accounts compliance programs.

Ms. Kloster earned a B.A. with distinction from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. She holds the professional designation Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and has completed the FINRA Institute-Wharton Certificate Program for Regulatory and Compliance professionals. She has also completed the National Association of Securities Series 27 – Financial and Operations Principal exam, as well as the Series 7 – General Securities exam and the Series 24 – General Securities Principal exam. In addition, Ms. Kloster obtained both the LOMA Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation and the LOMA’s Associate-Customer Service (ACS) designation. She is also a graduate of the Minnesota Management Academy at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and the FBI (Minneapolis Division) Citizens Academy Program. In 2009, she was recognized as one of Minneapolis’ Finance and Commerce Top Women in Finance as well as Ignites 2009 Fund Titan CCO Finalist. Katie is a frequent speaker on compliance and regulatory issues.
