John Ellis is a principal at Edward Jones, currently responsible for the firm’s conflicts of interest program, senior investor protection initiatives and areas charged with reportable events and trust compliance. Ellis joined the firm in 2001 as an attorney in the Compliance Division. Over the last 17 years, Ellis has had responsibility for several compliance functions, including customer complaints, internal investigations, and compliance and legal service areas. Ellis has also led supervision areas focused on branch supervision, investment advisory supervision and insurance supervision. Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College, an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to joining Edward Jones, Ellis worked for the Office of the Missouri Secretary of State as the chief of enforcement for the Securities Division.
